LHDC Taking Energy Assistance Applications
Hoosiers may apply for assistance with their heating bills through a program called the Energy Assistance Program announced Larry K. Kleeman, Executive Director of Lincoln Hills Development Corporation (LHDC). Appointments must be made and are now being accepted. The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program is a federal block grant funded through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and administered in the State of Indiana by the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority. Lincoln Hills Development Corporation is the local community action agency administering the program in the three county area of Crawford, Perry, and Spencer.
The Energy Assistance Program is designed to assist low income families with the high cost of home energy through the partial payment of utility and/or fuel bills. The program does not have sufficient funds to pay all the energy costs of eligible households.

Households may be eligible for assistance if the household’s gross income for the past twelve (12) months does not exceed 150 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. Listed below is a chart which shows the Federal Poverty Guidelines that will be used to determine income eligibility for the Energy Assistance Program.
Income must be verified and determined for all household members age 18 and above.
