LHDC Receives Rehabilitation Grant

for Tell City Elderly Apartments

                                                    (February 23, 2006)

Lincoln Hills Development Corporation (LHDC) announces that it has received a $425,000.00 grant of HOME funds from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) to rehabilitate their 24-unit Housing for the Elderly apartment development located at 824 Washington Street , Tell City , IN.

LHDC Executive Director, Larry K. Kleeman, stated “We are very appreciative of this grant from IHCDA, as well as the strong support for this project by Tell City Mayor Gayle Strassell. These rehabilitation funds will enable us to undertake significant rehabilitation measures on this apartment development and will create many contracting opportunities for local contractors as well. As the first apartment project developed by LHDC, in 1981, these units are now in need of rehabilitation and modernization, and we believe the funds provided by IHCDA will preserve them as affordable apartments for elderly and handicapped residents for many years. We do not believe that the work to be performed will require any of the current tenants to be displaced while the work is in progress.”

Kleeman also reminisced “It doesn’t seem like it was 25 years ago that then-Lieutenant Governor John Mutz joined us here in Tell City to break ground on this apartment development. In the 25-plus years that the apartments have been in existence they have offered safe, decent and affordable rental housing to literally hundreds of elderly and handicapped citizens from Tell City and the surrounding area.”

Since this first project in 1981, LHDC has developed and now manages some 600 apartments located in 21 different developments throughout Southern Indiana .
