Workforce Investment Act Continues

Lincoln Hills Development Corporation’s (LHDC) Executive Director, Larry K. Kleeman, is pleased to announce that LHDC’s WorkOne Express Sites in Perry and Spencer Counties will continue to administer and operate the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) for another year. Final tallies of previous year’s program goals and performance indicated that 94 individuals were served in Perry and Spencer Counties with 49 securing employment and 7 earning a post secondary certification or degree. Thirty-one (31) remain active on the program. LHDC Community Services Director, Tammy Thompson, explained that WIA emphasizes a lifelong approach to learning and skill development and services are provided in three (3) levels. The goal of each level of service is securing employment. The first level “Core Services” are available to all individuals and are primarily informational. LHDC has developed a resource library (located in the LHDC facility) which is available to assist individuals secure employment, including information on developing their own resume, interviewing effectively, and where to look for jobs. The second level “Intensive Services” cover such areas as assistance in securing a GED or upgrading one’s education, group counseling, in-depth career planning, and job search. Lastly, a person may advance to the level of “Training Services”.
