( July 21, 2003 )
On July 11, 2003 Lincoln Hills Development Corporation (LHDC) was honored at the Southern Regional Annual Meeting of the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana for its efforts in the $8 million restoration and development of the historic Indiana Cotton Mill, in Cannelton , IN , into seventy (70) units of affordable rental housing. Larry K. Kleeman, LHDC Executive Director, attended the meeting held in historic Madison, IN, and accepted the Rosemary Prentice Award for Historic Preservation for LHDC’s work on the Mill – a National Historic Landmark.
Kleeman said, “It is particularly gratifying to receive this award from the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana. At the time LHDC became involved in the project, the Indiana Cotton Mill was ranked by the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana as the #1 Most Endangered Historic Landmark in the state. We are truly grateful for this honor, and glad that our work helped to preserve this important national landmark.” |
