LHDC Receives Honors for Cotton Mill Restoration

( May 30, 2003 )

On May 29, 2003 Lincoln Hills Development Corporation (LHDC) was honored with an Honorable Mention Indiana Achievement Award for Innovation at a ceremony in Indianapolis for its efforts in the $8 million restoration and development of the Indiana Cotton Mill, in Cannelton , IN, into seventy (70) units of affordable rental housing. Executive Director, Larry K. Kleeman, and Deputy Director, Gary Zellers attended the awards ceremony, presented by The Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University and The Sycamore Foundation, with underwriting from The Indianapolis Foundation and the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust.

Kleeman said, “We are extremely grateful to be recognized for our work at the Indiana Cotton Mill.  There were nearly 100 agencies throughout Indiana nominated for awards recognizing their work, and only 12 agencies received Indiana Achievement Awards or Honorable Mention. The restoration of the Cotton Mill has received significant national and statewide acclaim and it is truly an honor to be recognized in this way.”
