LHDC Healthy Families helps "Pick Up the Tab" for the Ronald McDonald House of Indiana
( 05/27/04 )
The Lincoln Hills Development Corporation Healthy Families program is helping “pick up the tab” for the Ronald McDonald House of Indiana – one pop tab at a time. Healthy Families is collecting aluminum tabs from soda cans to help generate needed funds to support Indiana’s only “home away from home” for families of seriously ill or injured children receiving treatment at Riley Hospital for Children and other Indianapolis area hospitals. The Pop Tab Recycling Campaign began about eight years ago and has generated over $247,000 for the Ronald McDonald House. With the support of groups like Healthy Families, over 577 million tabs have been collected toward the ultimate goal of recycling one billion tabs. The “Collect-a-Billion” campaign has gained statewide support from hundreds of groups and individuals wanting to support families and children in need. Healthy Families is doing their part by collecting tabs for the Ronald McDonald House of Indiana. The Ronald McDonald House of Indiana first opened its doors in 1982 to assist families from Indiana and nearby states who had to travel to Indianapolis for their child’s medical care. The house provides a loving, caring and affordable place for thousands of families each year. With costly medical expenses, most families are not able to afford hotel rooms over a long period of time. With the support of Healthy Families, the Ronald McDonald House will continue to serve families in need by providing them with the rest and support they need to remain strong for their hospitalized child. Tabs can be dropped off at Lincoln Hills Development Corporation at 302 Main Street, Tell City. For more information, please contact Christal Moskos at 547-3435.
