The Lincoln Hills Development Corporation (LHDC) was founded in 1965 to serve the citizens of southern Indiana, primarily in Crawford, Harrison, Perry and Spencer Counties. The agency is funded through a combination of federal, state and local resources. The primary objective of LHDC is to provide self-help and self-sufficiency opportunities for the low income citizens of the service area, while continually striving to address the unmet service needs.
LHDC is governed by a Board of Directors composed of representatives of the low income, representatives of the private sector and public officials. The various programs administered by LHDC are guided by policy and advisory councils made up of local volunteers. Individuals who are interested in serving on any of these advisory boards should contact the LHDC office at 812-547-3435.
Lincoln Hills Development Corporation (LHDC), a locally governed Community Action Agency, engages in making life better by providing opportunities to empower people to improve the quality of life and address the causes and effects of poverty in Southern Indiana.
We believe in a society where all persons have the opportunity to be adequately fed, housed, educated, employed and in good health. We believe that all people should have the opportunity to improve their lives in an environment of economic and social justice without regard to the color of a person’s skin, the nature of a person’s religious or political beliefs, a person’s gender, age or sexual orientation, the sound of a person’s name or language, or the nation in which anyone was born or lives.
“Community Action changes people’s lives, embodies the spirit of hope, improves communities, and makes America a better place to live. We care about the entire community, and we are dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other.”
LHDC provides services to clients regardless of race, sex, color, religion, age, ancestry, national origin, veteran status, sexual orientation or disability. The agency is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
