Energy Assistance Program (EAP)

Summer is here! As you know, we are heading into the hottest part of the year. Our area is currently under an excessive heat warning. As temperatures soar, it is important to know the signs of heat stroke and, if necessary, seek medical attention or call 911. Young children, elderly persons, and those without adequate air conditioning are most vulnerable. LHDC currently has a limited number of window air conditioners and box fans that are available for eligible households with children under 5 years old; adults over the age of 60; and/or disabled members. Please check with EAP staff for additional information at 812-547-3435 (ext 275) or EAP@LHDC.org. In addition, households may find temporary relief at a cooling center. Check your local media websites such as WFIE 14 or WDRB for a list of local cooling centers. For more information about staying safe in the summer heat, check out this link from the American Red Cross.
