North Perry County Head Start – Open Enrollment & Open House

The Lincoln Hills Development Corporation Head Start and Early Head Start are currently accepting applications for enrollment for the 2017-2018 school years. On Friday April 28th, any interested family or community member should stop by the North Perry Head Start Center, 11180 French Ridge Road, Leopold, IN, during the Open House between the hours of 8:00 AM– 3:00PM.   Those attending are invited to visit the classroom and tour the building to learn more about Head Start and Early Head Start. The North Perry County Head Start center is located next to the Perry Central Community School in Leopold, IN.

Head Start is a federally funded preschool program that provides comprehensive services for the children and families participating in the program. These services meet the educational, social-emotional, health and nutritional needs of preschool children and their families. Head Start utilizes “Creative Curriculum” in the classroom and focuses on individual children’s needs in relation to School Readiness skills to prepare children for Kindergarten. Children also participate in field trips to extend learning outside of the classroom.   LHDC Head Start makes learning fun!

Children are provided with meal service through the Child Adult Care Food Program at no cost. Additionally, transportation is provided at no cost and transportation services are determined on an individual basis. LHDC Head Start also provides services for children with special needs.

Early Head Start is a home visiting education program offering year round services to pregnant women and children, birth to age three. The Early Head Start services focus on education and support for the expectant mother, child and family. These services are also provided at no cost and are appropriate for all children including those with special needs.


To apply to Head Start or Early Head Start, bring the following;

  1. Child’s Legal Birth Certificate
  2. Proof of income, which includes; Tax Returns, Pay Stub, Child Support, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and Supplemental Social Security Income (Disability).
