Senior Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program

LHDC to take applications for the SFMNP.

The Senior Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) is available in Crawford County and Perry County under the sponsorship of Lincoln Hills Development Corporation through the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP).

The program provides voucher checks from the Indiana State Department of Health to income-eligible senior households in Crawford County and Perry County.  The program encourages income-eligible senior citizens to purchase nutritious, locally grown produce, which helps support our community’s farmers.  To be eligible for the program, participants must meet the income guidelines as outlined below (income less than 185% of the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines) and be a resident of either Crawford County or Perry County.  Participants must also be at least 60 years of age or be a disabled person at least 55-59 years of age and living in housing for the elderly/disabled served by a congregate meal service.  Each eligible individual will receive a check booklet worth $20 that may be used through October 17, 2020. Due to COVID-19, the program applications and vouchers will be distributed via mail this year instead of meeting applicants face-to-face. All applicants must provide their name, date of birth, and income for all members of the household.

All recipients from the 2019 Senior Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program will automatically receive an application in the mail.

Eligible participants may sign up for the program by contacting Kathleen Ferguson at 812-547-3435 ext. 230, or toll-free at 1-800-467-1435 ext. 230, or by email for an application.
