Bureau Programs
Services provided through the
Lincoln Hills Development Corporation (LHDC) Youth Service Bureau include:
Perry
County Tobacco Prevention and Cessation (PCTPC) Coordination
Working
together to make Perry County tobacco free, the PCTPCC works with local
schools, organizations and businesses to ensure that tobacco education,
public awareness, and cessation programs are provided to youth and adults
in Perry County.
" Freedom from Tobacco" a cessation program of the American
Lung Association is offered by the YSB.
Afternoons
Rock
Afternoons
Rock is an after school
drug prevention program.
Tell City students, 5th through 8th grades, may participate in this 40
hour program which promotes the physical, social and emotional well-being
of youth. Afternoons Rock teaches prevention skills such as critical
thinking and decision-making skills; develops positive social skills and
works to increase self-esteem and self-responsibility; increases students’
knowledge about alcohol, drugs, and sexuality; helps youth understand
the physical and social changes taking place in their lives and how to
cope positively; and helps youth learn to identify and resist peer and
media pressure.
CLASS-A
Youth Advocacy and Action.
Perry County youth who are interested in youth citizenship activity meet
monthly to learn the basics of local government, decision making, fact
finding, presentation, project development and community involvement.
Early
Risers Program
Early Risers Skills for Success is a skill building program for children
and families. Early Risers is a preventative approach to addressing
early problems in elementary age children by utilizing small group after
school programs which focus on building a healthy self-concept, positive
social skills, and developing feelings of connectedness to peers and school.
The program provides parent support, resource and referral, and proactive
involvement between the school and family.
Creating
Positive Relationships
Abstinence-based,
pregnancy prevention program offered to 6th, 7th, 8th, and 10th grade
students in Perry County and Crawford County school systems.
Project
H.O.P.E.
Project H.O.P.E. is a program for first time juvenile offenders and their
families. H.O.P.E. works to develop a positive mentoring relationship
with both the youth and family and provide support, education and specific
family needs.
SafeSitter
SafeSitter
is a babysitting class that teaches life saving and lifelong job skills.
Safe
Sitter is an internationally recognized program teaching youth, ages 11-14,
a comprehensive curriculum including child development, appropriate discipline
techniques, safety for the sitter, emergency response, first aid, rescue
breathing and choking, and job search skills. Emergency preparedness is
emphasized throughout the program.
