Early Head Start

LHDC Early Head Start is a home-based program that provides services to pregnant women and children 0-3.

· Weekly Home Visits are individualized for each family’s needs and child’s interests and developmental stage.

· Home Visitors perform developmental screenings and plan educational activities for parents and children to improve school readiness.

· Socializations and Family Gatherings provide opportunities for children and parents to interact with peers, participate in activities, and learn new things.

· Transition services help your child enter Head Start or another preschool program.
Head Start

LHDC Head Start provides services to children 3-5. Our educational philosophy is based on the theory that children learn best through child-initiated play.

· Classrooms are child-centered and developmentally based.

· We provide a warm and inviting environment ensuring that children feel important and safe to foster positive social interactions, creativity, independence, and self-esteem.

· We offer materials and experiences that are play-based and child-initiated to develop school readiness skills.

· LHDC Head Start believes that children learn best when parents are actively engaged, and therefore, parent involvement is an essential element of the program.
