LHDC offers Early Head Start Center-Based and Home Based services in Crawford, Harrison, Perry, and Spencer Counties. Early Head Start Home Based is a home-based program that provides services to pregnant women and children 0-36 months once weekly in the home for 90 minutes. Early Head Start Center-Based is a program that offers full day services four days each week in a classroom setting to children 0-36 months.
Home-Based Weekly home visits are individualized for each family’s needs and child’s interests and developmental stage. Home Visitors perform developmental screenings and plan educational activities for parents and children to improve school readiness. Socializations and Family Gatherings provide opportunities for children and parents to interact with peers, participate in activities, and learn new things. Center-Based Early Head Start Center-Based classrooms are centered on the educational philosophy that children learn best through child-initiated play. Classrooms are child-centered and developmentally based. We provide warm and inviting high quality environments to ensure children feel important, safe, and are ready to learn to foster positive social interactions, creativity, independence, and self-esteem. LHDC believes that children learn best when parents are actively engaged, and therefore, parent involvement is an essential element of the program. Transition services help your child enter Head Start or another preschool program. |
