TCPD Recognized for Longstanding Partnership Tell City, IN, May 4, 2021– Lincoln Hills Development Corporation (LHDC) Executive Director/CEO, Randy Dennison, announced during its 56th Annual Meeting that the Tell City Police Department was named the agency’s recipient of its 2021 LHDC Community Partner award. The award was presented to Mayor Chris Cail, Clerk-Treasurer Connie Berger, and Tell City Police Department Chief Derrick Lawalin on May 4, 2021. In announcing the award recipient, Dennison stated, "I'm pleased to acknowledge the Tell City Police Department as the recipient of Lincoln Hills Development Corporation's 2021 Community Partner Award. Officers from the Department routinely visit our Head Start classrooms to caution students about interacting with strangers and explain the vital role the Department and its officers play in our community. They've also allowed our Head Start students to tour the Tell City Police station and a patrol car. TCPD officers conducted active shooter training for our staff, and they ensure the security of our facilities by conducting after-hours security checks. Just before the pandemic began, Chief Lawalin asked LHDC to partner with the TCPD to launch a local chapter of Project LifeSaver, a program designed to locate senior citizens and disabled citizens who are lost or missing. As I consider the selection criteria for our Community Partner Award, I cannot imagine a more worthy recipient.” Lincoln Hills Development Corporation (LHDC), a locally governed Community Action Agency, engages in making life better by providing opportunities to empower people to improve the quality of life and address the causes and effects of poverty in Southern Indiana.
