LHDC BRINGING POVERTY AWARENESS AND RESOURCES SERIES TO PERRY, SPENCER, AND CRAWFORD COUNTIES7/27/2021 LHDC is set to partner with local and state agencies to share poverty awareness and resources throughout 2021. Tell City, IN, July 26, 2021 – In October 2020, Lincoln Hills Development Corporation (LHDC) was awarded a grant by the Perry County Community Foundation in conjunction with the seventh phase of the Lilly Endowment Inc. Giving Indiana Funds for Tomorrow (GIFT VII) initiative. Emily Alvey, Regional Director of Community Engagement and Impact (Perry County Community Foundation), stated, "when determining where to focus our implementation grant efforts, the Perry County Community Foundation advisory board chose to emphasize the cycle of poverty to benefit the residents, businesses, organizations, and the Perry County community." Lincoln Hills Development Corporation will utilize the Perry County Community Foundation funds to host two virtual workshops for the Perry County community. The first session will include poverty-related statistics for Perry County. The follow-up session will provide an opportunity to discuss local resources and referral mechanisms and allow participants an opportunity to network with their peers.

Tell City, IN, July 27, 2021 – Perry County Council on Aging hosted a Senior Health and Resource Fair at the Schergens Center on July 8, 2021. Rebecca Ferrell, Health Insurance Navigator, Rachel Schaefer, Perry County Resource Coordinator, and Kathleen Ferguson, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program Manager, provided information regarding LHDC services and a gift basket for a giveaway.
“LHDC is grateful for the opportunity to connect with seniors in our community. We thank the Perry County Council on Aging for hosting us during the Perry County Senior Health Fair,” said Kathleen Ferguson, LHDC RSVP Manager. Tell City, IN, July 12, 2021 – The Perry County Community Foundation recently granted Lincoln Hills Development Corporation $1,000.00 to help provide emergency preparedness kits to local elderly residents and preschool children. The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) will be kicking off the community project in the upcoming months. “The LHDC Retired and Senior Volunteer Program is grateful for this grant and the impact it will make in our community. We are thankful for our partnership with the Perry County Community Foundation,” said Kathleen Ferguson, LHDC RSVP Manager The Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) is still accepting vouchers for the 2021 season. The SFMNP is available in Crawford and Perry County under the sponsorship of Lincoln Hills Development Corporation through the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP).
