LHDC is set to partner with local and state agencies to share poverty awareness and resources throughout 2021.

Tell City, IN, July 26, 2021 – In October 2020, Lincoln Hills Development Corporation (LHDC) was awarded a grant by the Perry County Community Foundation in conjunction with the seventh phase of the Lilly Endowment Inc. Giving Indiana Funds for Tomorrow (GIFT VII) initiative.

Emily Alvey, Regional Director of Community Engagement and Impact (Perry County Community Foundation), stated, "when determining where to focus our implementation grant efforts, the Perry County Community Foundation advisory board chose to emphasize the cycle of poverty to benefit the residents, businesses, organizations, and the Perry County community."

Lincoln Hills Development Corporation will utilize the Perry County Community Foundation funds to host two virtual workshops for the Perry County community. The first session will include poverty-related statistics for Perry County. The follow-up session will provide an opportunity to discuss local resources and referral mechanisms and allow participants an opportunity to network with their peers.

Additionally, LHDC will be hosting similar workshops for both Spencer and Crawford Counties. The workshops will be virtual with online registration. The dates for each session are below:

  • Poverty Overview in Perry County: Friday, August 27 at 9 AM CDT
  • Poverty Overview in Spencer County: Friday, September 17 at 9 AM CDT
  • Poverty Overview in Crawford County: Friday, October 1 at 10 AM EDT

LHDC is proud to be working with Indiana Community Action Association and the Indiana Institute for Working Families to provide information about poverty in all three counties.

“We are pleased that the Perry County Community Foundation chose to use this Lilly award to address poverty in Perry County and look forward to working with the Foundation and other community partners to discuss ways to end the cycle of poverty in our community,” stated Randy Dennision, Executive Director/CEO of Lincoln Hills Development Corporation.

This workshop series aims to provide statistics and facts about local poverty, connect individuals with the resources offered, promote local agencies, provide networking opportunities, and more. All economic development corporations, chambers, local agencies, community stakeholders, healthcare administrators, elected officials, educators, and other interested individuals are encouraged to attend. If you would like to register for sessions, please visit www.lhdc.org or contact Kaydi Backer at 1-800-467-1435 ext. 268 or kbacker@lhdc.org.
